Vels has great food and great service.I love there seafood. As good as any seafood in the area.I had the seafood platter that came with a great salad I love the red vinegerette dressing, could just about finish the platter its huge.and they give you fries or onion rings or any side Love all there food. One of the best bar pizzas around and Wednesday they have two for ten bucks good deal.Getting to know all of the waitresses it's like being family there, they go out of there way for you, great service

Stopped by on our way home from the cape on a yelp recommendation. Had lobster roll and husband had chicken pawn sandwich, what a treat! Gave four stars because kind of a dive in terms of decor but beer is cold, food was a 5!!! Prices good too!

Retro 70's restaurant, nothing fancy, specials on an index card! That 70's formula: Standards, Hot and big portions. I always go with the two standard comfort foods: Chicken Pot Pie or chicken parm.

Decor could use some updating, BUT they have some of the BEST seafood around! The lobster bisque (HUGE chunks of lobster)was especially good and service was wonderful!

I don't get to Wareham often, but this had been one of my regular stops. It's definitely going downhill... The decor hasn't been touched in decades; that could be overlooked if the food was great, but it's not. The lobster bisque used to be loaded with meat and now there's hardly any lobster and it has an overwhelming sherry taste. Out of a party of 8, half had an underwhelming experience. Unless I hear there have been significant changes, I won't be back.

Needed to grab a quick lunch prior to visiting a friend in the area. Vel's seemed to have favorable reviews so we decided on this place. We were confused on which was the front door. There are two doors facing the road. The left door leads to the dining room. The right door leads to the bar area. It is definitely a townie restaurant. We stood out like a sore thumb sitting at a table in the bar area! I ordered the cheese burger deluxe while my friend got the shepherd's pie. Food was decent and appropriately priced. Our server checked on us every so often. No complaints.

Some of the reviews that speak of the ancient styled atmosphere are right. The lobster chowder brings you back. A bit salty, but huge chunks of lobster throughout. A superb fish sandwich as well.

I've been going to Vel's for pretty much my whole life. My mom grew up in Wareham and we always make a stop when we are in town. It's cozy, the staff is super friendly and the food is delicious and affordable. If you are in the neighborhood and looking for good, affordable food with great service, check it out! They also have some of the best clam chowder I have ever had!

Best Chicken Parm in New England! Their chicken parm is better than anything offered in Federal Hill... It is a hole in the wall nothing fancy, nothing to wild

This place gets no stars way over priced for very subpar food. The hostess that i spoke to on the phone seemed irritated and disinterested and it came off as rude I decided to try vels because it was hyped up by family and local friends. NEVER AGAIN I had ordered the Filet Mignon which was over cooked, dry, and flavorless as was the mashed potatoes and the carrots I got instead of the sweet potatoes I had ordered. Will not be ordering from this establishment anytime soon

Good was delicious! Had the chicken Marsala and it was incredible. My daughter had chicken Alfredo creamy and the bear she's ever had. The portions are huge! Also had soup as an app. The beef barley was extremely tasty! Highly recommend!

Nice little restaurant with a quirky little feel to it. Great clam chowder, fried clams, and a fantastic lobster bisque. I go here a few times during my annual vacation from San Diego. I have a fish allergy, and all their chowder & bisque are made with no fish stock added to it. Most restaurants around the Southeastern MA area use fish stock in their chowders. Why add fish stock to clam chowder or lobster bisque? I want the full clam & lobster flavor.

While I'm new to the area, Vel's seems like the local townie restaurant where everyone knows your name. It is endearing in a way. Vel's offers classic American fare with your standard broiled fishes, bar-style pizza, and chicken parm standbys. Oh, man - and baked stuffed shrimp is on the menu! I love pretty much anything with shrimp, so of course I ordered it. Unfortunately, our waitress was slow and got our dinner order in about 10 minutes after some locals arrived -- one of whom stole the last shrimp order in the restaurant (I heard her ordering it after me!). Wtf. So, our waitress comes over to inform me that I have to order something else. I waffled a bit because I was pretty set on those little baked stuffed bottom-feeders. "I guess I'll have the crab cake." Ugh, it's not like I'm at a place that's going to use jumbo lump crab, so I'm not sure why I bothered wasting the calories. It was over-fried rather than baked. The rice medley was surprisingly delicious, though, as was the chocolate pudding dessert. My mister said his chicken parm was really good, so I upped the stars despite the loss of my shrimp to a local. Maybe I'll get priority in 10 years when I'm 40 and sporting "Not your daughter's jeans" with a couple of kids under my belt.

Good selection of pub style, well priced. Lobster bisque is super tasty. Will definitely be back.

Great neighborhood restaurant. Vels has been in Wareham for years and continues to be really busy because of the delicious food and reasonable prices. I am a big fan of the stuffed mushrooms. I've had the filet a couple times, both times it was seasoned well but once it was well done vs medium like I ordered. My long island icedwas fantastic! I wish the inside was a bit nicer, the location definitely shows its age as some of the booths have ripped seats and it doesnt look loke theres been an interiror update in a while. Because of that we're more likely to get take out vs stay in. For a good lunch or dinner at reasonable prices it as worth checking out.

Good food, especially the lobster roll and steak tips. The staff are very thoughtful and caring. The physical restaurant itself needs a serious renovation though.

Passing through from Atlanta, we were in the mood for seafood and found this place using the Yelp app. First impression upon entering, the word "cozy' came the mind. It was dim lit, very out dated, yet, comfortable. The lounge side was very busy and loud, but the dining side was only semi busy and quiet. At first glance of the seafood menu, it looked a bit on the expensive side, but after ordering a $20 dinner each, we soon saw the value. Our $20 meal came with bread rolls, soup, salad, a massive helping of the main course, two vegetables, and a pudding for desert. It was more than one person could eat. The food was delicious and generously proportioned with a quiet small town restaraunt atmosphere and our waitress, Courtney, was very beautiful, very friendly, very attentive, and all the time with a smile on her face which just added to the wonderful experience. The only downside I found in this place was that when I ordered a Mt. Dew I was brought 20 oz. bottle for $2. I should have stopped at the convenient store and brought my own for cheaper. So, keep that in mind when ordering soda, other than that, ask for water and enjoy!

This place is great for retro night! Picture your local townie restaurant circa 1972. Dark panelling, paper placemats, those little red candle things from Italian restaurants of yore, low acoustic ceiling tiles. No fancy food here, chicken parm, red sauce, baked and fried seafood and charbroiled steaks. Large portions of very good Italian-American blue collar food....order a Manhattan, Chester, and dig in!

I went with a recommendation. We just missed lunch menu but waitress said we were close enough and gave us choice of lunch or dinner. Lunch specials included shepherd's pie which my wife ordered and it was in a large casserole dish. Delish. I ordered the "hot turkey dinner" and was brought a large platter served like a hot turkey sandwich/dinner hybrid. All white meat, lumpy home-made mashed pot. Fresh butternut squash stuffing rolls/butter and cran sauce. We were charged lunch prices yet the meals were dinner portions. I didn't finish mine but my famished wife did hers. Waitress was old-school great with charm and service. The menu is extensive with Italian dishes (antipasto looked mouthwatering). Based on this experience and my wife's prior visit when she had swordfish I give it a solid rating. Add the modest prices and great service you can't go wrong.

I went there once three years ago when I first moved to Wareham. The interior was shoddy and the food was sub-par. I would not go there again.

Very good food and service. Very reasonable prices. The seafood stuffed portabelo and Kale soup were great! Chicken marsala was ok.

Clamp chowder, cheese and broccoli soup, chicken parm, seafood platter. It was all good!
